Cardinals got destroyed by Thor. God damn 10 strike outs, and after giving up the homer, Thor locked in. Last Mets pitcher to strike 10 on opening day? Pedro Martinez.

He gave up 4 ER's, but that's okay. First time opening, so definitely a lot of nerves, and tension. He seemed to settle once he got in a groove.

Our future is looking pretty damn good.

I was more impressed by the batters... 9 runs by small ball was a joy to watch. Cespedes is really incredible with bases loaded and they all had great ABs with 9 walks and 12 hits. Nimmo batting first was perfect that kid knows how to get on base. I know it's only the first game but it's gonna be interesting to see what happens if he continues to play well and conforto is healthy.

Hell yes.

Conforto, Cespedes, Frazier, Bruce and Nimmo? Dude this is a upgrade than 2015. I think 2015 pitching was better, but that's a testament to how farce our offense was.

And the thing is, we have a lot of depth. I know we have a lot of shit to prove, but for some reason this year feels different.

Like what I'm seeing from this team, definitely short sample size but we actually have hitters and defensive infield. And the top 3 1-2 punch in Thor and DeGrom.

Nimmo when asked what his thoughts were once he gets relegated back to bench with the return of Conforto.

Quote
“It’s the same mentality as last year when I got that opportunity is just have fun, go prepare the best that you can and work hard,” the former first-rounder said. “And then when you get out there, just play. Have fun. Trust your instincts. Analyze the game. Know the situations.”

Nimmo speaks like he’s been a major leaguer for over a decade, he really has it all together when it comes to baseball smarts and I’m excited for this kid’s future. So is his teammate Jay Bruce.

“Nimmo just continues to get better,” Bruce said. “He’s a guy who continues to put together a quality at-bat over and over and over, and that’s impressive. It takes focus. It takes trust in the strike zone. It takes strike-zone judgment and it’s something he takes a lot of pride in. He’s at the point now where he’s ready to make an impact.”

Kid is just very smart and savvy baseball player with the greatest attitude I've ever seen.

Outfield of Bruce, Nimmo, Cespedes, and Conforto might be one of the deadliest outfield we have had in ages. I don't see Lagares staying any longer, I think Alderson has grown weary of his inability to hit for league average. His defense is gold caliber of course, but he just doesn't show up to the plate when there are runners on the base.

Nimmo probably has the best plate discipline on the team too. Every at-bat he had on Opening Day was a good one

Just need to dupe and clone Thor and DeGrom lol.

But yes, DeGrom showing his stellar fine self, (miss his long hair,) but it was also great to see the run support

Hopefully the back-end guys can grow and reach their potential, if so then we have an extremely dangerous pitching staff. Also, if Matt Harvey can be 75% of what he was when he was a dominant pitcher
