With the recent update of the game, the ladder community has seen the price of the soj's and annihilus go up like crazy.
Easy to understand these market prices since the NL servers won't affect the soj sold to merchants on ladder anymore.

So here is a comprehensive guide + a build idea I came with for this new season. Enjoy

First, some facts :

As you can see, Soj has a 1/59 chance to be identified when you dropped by any monster from Hell or late NM.
If you want to maximize the drop, farm only the areas with Lvl 39 (up to Lvl 52 since dwarf and raven spawn at Lvl 53 and up)
If you do so, the soj drop rate increase to 1/31 instead of 1/59.

Here's a list of Lvl 39 (up to 43) areas :
NM act1 Areas : trist, tower lvl 2-3-4-5, hole lvl 2, tamoe highland, pit lvl 1-2, monastery gate, outer cloister, barracks, jail lvl 1-2-3, inner cloister, cathedral, catacombs lvl 1-2-3-4 (ideal for solo runs)
Norm act5 Areas : abandon, pit of acheron, infernal pit, worldstone lvl 1-2-3, throne + baal (ideal for public baal walk games)

Now, since those areas are super easy to farm, I was looking for the best optimization of Highest MF% and Killing speed.
You all know that MF has a diminishing return. Rest assured, a higher % will always = a higher chance to drop a unique instead of a rare/set/magic.

Finally, here's the build I came up with :

Class : Paladin
Stats : Str for equip, no dex (you don't want to block low dmg attacks, and that dmg won't trigger FHR animation anyway), full vita (or even some in energy since you won't have an insight merc, you can't die anyway)
Skills : 20 in HolyShock, Salvation, ResistLightning, Vigor, HolyShield (max last, kinda useless)

Gear :
3offensive 35mf circ 2os 2x ist

3holyshock 5os scepter 5x ist /OR 3offensive 3holyshock 2os scepter 2x ist
enigma mp

wartrav 50mf

9x 7mf scs
+ tome of tp = 2x4 free inv

688% MF at lvl 90
This % will stack with your merc, which also has holy auras

merc a3 cold : hoj / dragon armor + shield / shako ist (larger radius aura, 75mf)
/OR 2x dream 25mf / eth skulkers ist / 6x ist CS (same aura dmg, but less radius, 300+mf)

Strategy :

As you can see, this build doesnt care about FCR. Why? Cuz it's not like the typical Mfer that spend 90% of his time to reach a specific monster/boss.
No... Here the whole map is your farming area. With 0% FCR, everytime you teleport your HolyShock aura will tick and clear the whole screen. This let you enough time to keep an eye open for the unique rings that will drop /or for that fast pickit option between each teleport
There is not a single build in the game that can clear those Lvl39 areas as fast as that. The typical Hdin would require 10x more time, the orb sorc and Javzon would need 2x more time. And all of them wouldn't have such a high MF%.

Some of you might think it's not worth doing all of this, right?
But consider that soj's are not the only reward here.
You also get 2x better chance to find 5@res, 11single res, 5fhr, 3frw mods on scs
also 2x more 15ias, 15@, 30 single res mods on jewels
also much better chance of finding godly res boots, since all mods like 31-40% single res, 30frw, 10fhr, dex spawn under Lvl39
about 10x more chance to find that 30frw 3os circ
And switch your mindset/pickit to keep all those godly lld items you'll find

Just kill nightmare difficulty quest drop glitched Andariel over and over again with max possible MF%. That's how you're gonna net the most sojs per hour. Fire sorc or hammerdin.

Yep, I used to believe this
but trust me, killing nm glitched andy every 2 min vs killing thousands of monsters per min, youll notice a very huge difference
glitched nm andy has 10% chance of droping a ring
every single monster you kill has 0.6% chance in those area, with a better chance for soj (cuz lvl39 instead of lvl60)
so basically, every 16.6 regular monster killed = 1 glitched andy quest (with 1/31 chance instead of 1/52)
16.6 monster is about 1 teleport + tick of holy shock, so it happens about every 2 seconds with this build
so, either keep believing what you just said, or welcome this new technique that will drop easily 60 times more sojs in the same time frame

gambling rings nonstop is faster

What? NM andariel, glitched or not can only drop manal, nagel and Soj, is still 1/31 chance, you can't get a dwarf or raven from her.

buying rings from shops nostop is faster even more

My gf barb gambles a soj about once per day
While my auradin drops an average of 11.6 per day based on the 9 days hes been in service

The fact that she never dropped me one is cuz she can't do it.

The question now is, how can I trust your guide if you miss this basic and still very relevant information?

your gf barb spends a lot more time goldfinding than gambling. I'm talking about gambling nonstop, which is still unpatched
