Yeah, the 370/B350 is the correct one. You're becoming an expert. :)

Just add the motherboard model in the third box, and you're good to go.
Any RAM on the list will be compatible.

Generally look for around the 3200Mhz speed and the lowest timings. Timings look like 15-15-15-30 or some shyt.

/e Look for 16GB kits made of TWO sticks as well.

/e Once you find a 16GB (2 stick) kit, at around 3200Mhz with nice low timings, then you can even look for those that match the color of your motherboard. :)

After you find the RAM kit you want, copy it's model number and go back to PCpartpicker and click on Choose Memeory and at the top click on the search magnifying glass and just paste the model number in the search box.

Lol. I don't know about expert.. but I didn't see the RAM sticks he picked on the list.

I only see 2133 MHZ and 2400 MHZ sticks, nothing more than that..

/e or were you saying he didn't use this configurator?

Either or...what is the exact make and model of the motherboard you chose?

/e Keep in mind, that the AM4 boards are also relatively new...so even GSkill is STILL testing RAM sticks for compatibility

I was looking of off the MB he picked.

The MB i picked was this: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/qMdFf7/asus-prime-x370-pro-atx-am4-motherboard-prime-x370-pro

I wasn't sure if it was good or not. I don't know how to check that stuff. I also saw someone post a MB of a x270? but I thought the x370 would be better/newer because that's what companies do with new stuff, just keep making the number greater.

Ex: GPU's 1060, 1070, 1080, etc. or just add an 'x'

Ex: CPU's 1400, 1500, 1500x, etc.

For his mobo...I would just get this: https://www.gskill.com/en/product/f4-2400c15d-16gtzr

For the mobo you picked: get the same RAM. :)

/e personally I would go with the ASUS X370 board, and if you want Ryzen, get one of the ones with an X on the end so you can overclock a bit if you need to.

The X370 boards can be overclocked, the B350 ones, can not.

Better list?

I'm pretty sure I'd have to get an OS though. Unless I used my current 500 gb hdd with it's OS. That's usable, right?

Here. If you can get the SAME parts cheaper at say Best Buy or Microcenter...do so...

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qnsDsJ <--- will play just about anything on a 1080p monitor, no problem and most on medium settings on even a 1440p monitor

No, for the OS. New motherboard requires new install of w/e OS.

You can get a license for Windows at Kinguin for about $28 , then just download Windows for free from Microsoft. You only pay for the cd key (license)...not for Windows itself.
