I don't disagree with that at all. But I still maintain that the proper approach is for people to take personal responsibility for their health, not rely on what cues society gives them.

Attempting to judge someone's health based on their appearance is a flawed concept. Health is much more broad than just BMI. Crack addicts on the brink of death could put a little makeup on and appear perfectly healthy. People shouldn't consider the judgements of others, they should pay attention to their own health.

judging health on appearance isn't about health it's about attractiveness

it's like when duffman talks about health, he doesn't give a shit about overall health he wants to ban fatties because fatties are grody to him

Health and attractiveness are 2 different things that vaguely overlap

Using appearance to judge health is a bad idea. But appearance is the only way to just attractiveness, so there is no problem with that at all.

personal responsibility is great but i'd prefer the government play a greater role through subsidizing healthier foods, gym memberships and mandatory yearly fitness checks similar to what they have in japan

you might be content living in the secluded wilderness with no cares for your fellow man but duffman is not like that as he and cares deeply for the health and well being of his nation and it's citizenry

Agreed, the USA has an obesity crisis and I would love to see the government invest resources into addressing it. If a group of people were going to use bombs to destroy every Mcdonald's and Burger King in the country, I would personally lend my support to their cause. I would have no problem with taxing people who were unable to manage their health.

As long as those yearly fitness checks are medical and NOT visual. Neither the media or social interactions with strangers should play a role in how someone's health is perceived.

I think people should be left alone for the most part provided they aren't victimizing others

I support opportunities and resources to help most things but overall I think people should be in control of their bodies and personal choices. Thanks to my wilderness animal loving hermit wisdom I know that to truly change anything one must lead by example

spending the day telling people how to be rather than showing the world what you would like it to be is a giant waste of time

they have annual health checks administered by doctors in japan via laws requiring employers to make them available to their employees

employers face penalties if their employees aren't doing too well so they'll encourage employees towards healthier lifestyle choices, it's a good system imo

That's fine and all, but it's really not the topic at hand

Some people might actually be able to be healthy while appearing under or overweight.

I'm saying that there is not necessary a correlation between one's appearance and their health.

this is what happens when you start speaking the fat acceptance lingo

You seem to be implying that my attempt to disassociate appearance from health is some sort of fat acceptance, which is not the case.
