You've missed the point again. War has been a constant throughout human history. So has terrorism. The issue we are debating is Islamic terrorism in the West. The west advanced more quickly than the middle east. It also conquered huge portions of it. The position we were in in the early 1900s and our actions since have had a tremendous impact on the development of middle eastern countries. America has repeatedly destabilised middle eastern countries and arguably arrested the development of those countries into stable nations.

But besides all that - what we are talking about now is how foreign policy and domestic attitudes contribute towards this continuous destabilisation and how we might change things for the better.

Clearly 'bombing the shit out of them' isn't working. Home grown Islamic terrorists are generally from isolated, impoverished areas so rampant xenophobia is not helping either.

I mean I'm impressed you finally worked out how to use Google but it'd be nice if what you googled had any bearing on your argument at all.

See my edit in post #259.

The ONLY reason bombing did not work is that we didn't bomb them back into the stone age...AND that Russia is helping to keep the Middle East a hot bed. They STILL want a warm water sea port.

/e My point is, that assigning blame to any one nation is ludicrous. The Islamic belief system aka, their faith, is the cause of the problem.

And my point is that assigning blame to any one thing is ludicrous. We can't change their faith. We can change our foreign policy and our domestic attitudes.

The USA doesn't give a damn what the Islamic nations want to believe. As far as I can see they just want the Middle East nations to stop blowing people up, or running them over or knifing them...etc.
That's why we stayed out until we did. Do you think our soldiers parents care more about what the Islamic nations believe or that their son and daughters are dying for just being stationed in an embassy over there?

/e As for Russia's desire for warm water seaports...it's not exactly news...

Yeah, you just want to argue.

Maybe we should be blaming Britain...eh?

1882 – British troops occupy Cairo – Egypt becomes British protectorate
1908 to 1922 – Defeat and dissolution of the Ottoman Empire
1917 – Lord Balfour, Foreign Minister of Great Britain, in a letter to Lord Rothschild, gives British government approval to Zionist's goal of building a "national home" in Palestine
1918 – Britain and France occupy former Ottoman Empire lands

/e Keep in mind that the US has only been a country since what...1776?
