Uh, no it wasn't....where were you during the country ban and all the jobs tweeting? It's Congress' job to legislate so he obviously deferred to them. It didn't happen which is why Trump is simply moving on.

Executive orders don't count. I obv mean it's the first major legislation he tried passing that required any effort.

In all seriousness though, it seems like this is mostly Ryan's fault in this specific case. I don't think Trump really cares that much about healthcare....definitely not top 3.

The White House and Paul Ryan chose what to put in the bill, and they chose what strategy they would use to get it passed. Instead of slowly debating the issue like Obama did, they tried to do it quick without getting consensus. Trump chose to pursue this issue first, so shifting the blame just doesn't work.

Trump did say it would happen "immediately" after his election. He made a lot of promises that were totally unrealistic, then broke virtually all of them.

Well, he's lied about quite a lot of things...so many that I'm not going to enumerate them. He did say that he'd do it on his first day but that doesn't mean it was a priority for him. I mean, this is a guy who said "who knew it could be so complicated." He's disinterested in nuance and policy outside of "kill ISIS," "secure the border," and "stop getting ripped off."

Why would they not count when that's what the administration actually controls?

I mean, they have to, right? The last day to do reconciliation is April 1st and that's what Ryan suggested. Otherwise it would require 60 votes in the Senate which won't happen. Better luck next year, right?

The last day this year, correct? Their strategy failed, so clearly they should've waited.

So you'd want them to wait until the 2018 budget? They aren't going to get 60 votes in the Senate, you know that right?
