I had great success doing the keto diet. Lost 60 lbs in 8 months. high fat has 1 major benefit, it doesn't make you hungry as often. I could eat a high carb meal, and in 2-4 hrs be hungry again. I also incorporated intermittent fasting into my diet. My first meal was around 12pm and last meal around 7-8pm. My meals were simple:
1st meal: 3 eggs, 4 pieces of bacon, 70-80grams of spinach, 20-25 grams of flax seed for breakfast.
2nd meal: Option 1 - Steak with melted butter and broccoli or asparagus
Option 2 - 2-3 chicken thighs with skin wrapped with bacon and broccoli
Option 3 - Porkchop with melted butter and broccoli or asparagus
When on keto, I was eating 6 days of the week, sometimes 5, depends on how I felt, Some days I felt like fasting for 1 day and other times 2 days. Felt better on the days of fasting then on the days I had to eat.
For me personally, it was a lot easier calory restricting on keto as opposed to carbs. Did my blood work and everything is checking out. My triglyceride levels dropped which is good. Was 200 lbs, now I'm at 140 so trying to maintain around that weight.
I'd love that diet, I just can't afford to eat steak and spinach and fresh veggies every day. Maybe when I'm in medical school I'll have the opportunity.
