New article recently released by German journal of oncology demonstrating the effects of ketogenic diet in leukemia (AML) over 9 months showing a 87% reduction in malignant spread compared to control. Weakly powered study, understandably so given the amount of variables, but the genetics they included was sound. Isolated cells demonstrated a near 200 fold affinity for glucose compared to control cells

Thanks for the update.

Based on my understanding, the theory of how ketogenic diet destroys many different types of cancer is with the chemistry of how cancer cells metabolize their food. Cancer cells can apparently only use carbohydrates as steady food. Without carbohydrates, the cancer cells literally starve.

Edit: know the name of the study?

I mean, that's basically all cells save the liver.

Non-cancerous cells can utilize fat-sourced ketones through beta oxidation. Cancer cells seem to only be capable of using glucose through glycolysis.

Not off top of my head but I can find it and post in a bit

You won't have access to read full article tho, I don't even. It was in a lecture given by this oncologist that is trying to for the most part abolish chemotherapy

Beta oxidation is primarily a liver pathway. It doesn't occur to any reasonable extent in most tissues.

It's been a while since I was researching fatty acid breakdown in undergrad though.

Great dish - Shishito peppers. Have the same taste as green peppers but better texture and more aromatic. Really simple recipe.

2 spoons olive oil with about two cups of peppers. Cut off stem and grill until they visibly start burning. Salt and pepper to taste. Add pinch of cumin.

Possible long-term effects

kidney stones
Abnormal liver function
high cholesterol
dehydration
decreased bone density

It's a nice business for many people, selling many books or shits...
Take care, be smart !
