Bench day..

Ended up with 185x5. Strong climb! Haven’t hit that much weight ever, love making prs 😑..

Did some heavy bb rows, front delt raises, skull crushers and bro curls.

quick update... Bench today, but that's not the important part.

I'm starting my prep for my first meet on January 20th.. I cant wait, as of now these are what I'm praying my lifts will be at.

495 deadlift, I've pulled 455 for a double.. I think I could pull this, but I plan on doing heavy singles just to see where i'm at in the next few weeks
415 squat, this is a realistic number I may exceed.. I squatted 365 for a double like 6 months ago, I did 335x7 a few days ago no problem..
235 bench, this is a stretch.. I'm currently around 215 for a single, so lets see what I can do.

That would land me around an 1150 total, not super competitive but it would make me feel gud.

Lets see how I do :3

Good luck ^

And protip, if you care about your total (which you shouldn’t really since it’s first comp) then going 9/9 will be higher than missing your final squat and deadlift because you ‘praying’ for a certain number and going 7/9

Most people’s gym lifts are bigger than their comp lifts, comp lifts are hard. Trying to get significantly more in comp than you can in the gym usually does not work out

Going 9/9 with a little left in the tank is the best result you can aim for. Gives you a base you can build upon and you start generating momentum, next comp will be bigger and better and you maintain constant progress. You have a good time and you get hungry for more. The alternative is you miss lifts, you don’t enjoy it, it’s hard, ego is hurt, quit

for sure, my plan was to pull 95% on my first pull, 100% on my second and a PR for my third attempt.

Squats I'm always confident in, that's probably because I've never actually failed a lift... I've never really tried for an actual PR though, I have plenty of 3/5/10 rm PRs.. But never a heavy single.

Bench, I plan on going 3/3 for, mostly because the difference of a PR and my actual lifts aren't great enough to risk red lighting it.

I'll keep you all updated on how I do ofc.

Probably too heavy %wise for an opener (srs).

Read any competition article or glance at how lifters have spread their attempts

Assume your 3rd attempt is 100% and work backwards
91% is usually good for an opener, and even less on deadlift

eg, i went

91% - 96% - 100% on squats
92% - 96% - 100% on bench
88% - 95% - 100% on deadlifts

It’s not that low, lol. My squat and dead have always been my strength, but my bench isn’t that out of wack from my squat or dead. Also, I’ve never once lifted weights/played sports when I was younger.. I was just a fat shit.

I’m actually starting JTS cowboy method that puts a lot more attention on bench.

ZzZz.

I acknowledge my short comings, but my bench isn’t that terrible, especially for someone who has at the most 9 months of serious lifting under his belt, and 4 months of following an actual program..

My bench has gone up nearly 40 lbs in 9 months, that’s progress.
