He will not release. Financials and tax returns are much different.

If those returns show even the slightest doubt that he doesn't make as much as he says it will hurt him significantly

Lol, his lawyers gave him the opinion he wanted so he doesn't need to do something that every candidate has done for about half a century.

Trump brings on most of his negative spotlight himself, I hardly see your point that the media would blast him for showing his returns. He's stated he will, so it's expected at this point
