I have to ask, where do you get this? From an everyday-use perspective, what makes Win 8.1 and 10 (with Classic Shell) worse than Win 7?

text and font sizing for high resolution monitors its quite nice
multiple desktops
schedule restarts
notification center
xbox streaming
hopefully hololens
edit funny thing they are all pretty close to the same alot of rededit tweaks are same across the board, just little different ui but people complain about change
find it funny its ok for android to change ui consistantly but oh no not windows

They read it in an article of course. They can download it for free, but why bother trying it for yourself.
Just like every other OS that is ever released, exaggeration is key to getting clicks on articles, which leads people to believe that "windows 8 and 8.1 are unusable", "windows 10 is just worse 7".

99% of the people that talk like this have so little knowledge of what they can actually do with a computer that they are simply upset about the start menu looking different.

I'm getting kind of the same vibe all around.

I used to tweak Win 7 more to my liking, but when I finally stepped up to 8.1, I really didn't find any reason to change too many things (start menu being the most important tweak), same goes for 10. They work as well as Win 7 did and run my games, that's all I need from them. I have a few Linux distros for different uses, though.

I've noticed win10 works a LOT better with older programs/games than 7/8 did.
