Quote
“We want to compensate women for the lower prize money they have been paid in the past,” said spokesperson Jeremy Andrews “It took us 39 years to introduce equal pay after the Open Era in 1968, so for all that time men were earning more than women and we can’t pretend it didn’t happen.

“By paying women the same as men, we’re just sweeping it under the rug, we need to right the wrongs of the past. We will be paying women a 20% bonus for the foreseeable future, starting 2017.”

In 2007, the decision to pay Wimbledon players equally regardless of their gender was received positively on the whole, despite many arguing that men should be paid more for playing 5 sets rather than the women’s three. In addition to this, the argument that there is a huge disparity in viewing figures, with many more people watching men’s tennis. In 2015, the Wimbledon men’s final attracted a peak audience of 9.2 million viewers, compared with 4.3 million for the women’s final.

In a capitalist society, CEOs would see that women cost less and would employ them more often for higher profits.
Mexican average wage is pretty low too, what do all the corporations want? Mexicans.

The problem is skill, not sex (or gender).

How is a female tennis player doing less work because the event draws a smaller crowd? They aren't exactly out rounding people up and bringing them to the stadium...

selling tickets is work

if you're a greater draw you ought to be paid more

So what you're saying is women should have to work MORE to get the same pay, since they naturally aren't going to draw the same crowd and drawing this kind of equivalence is a bit sad...

Bit hard to quantify since we're working with different physiology.

Let's just be direct, who wins the best male wimbledon player or the best female wimbledon player?

That is a poor way to measure skill. You're measuring ability in the situation you describe.
