Eh, not really mate but I understand. There is the full story (10 full Acts), then end-game maps, boss runs, master leveling, challenge leagues have their own shtick and things to do, dailies, crafting, working on gear to be more efficient on end-game maps. Just off the top of my head and more
Then, the replayability really comes into play when making new characters. Look at Mathilification's channel on Youtube.. look at all how many diff builds he does per league. That's how most people play the game PvE wise, making new characters is basically the end-game, it's hella fun.
Five acts*, then 5 repeated acts where the same content is remixed.
All the grinding to raise some imaginary points, all the maps, boss runs, master leveling- its just replaying the same content endlessly, the same skills, same enemies, same bosses, same tilesets
And as far as build-making goes, it already takes out any real competitive motivation when the game is single player, build optimization is important for marginal utility in player vs player games, but in single player grindfests its pretty irrelevant. But then you take that, and compound it with GGG's design philosophy of insufferably micromanaging their metagame and its just odious as all hell. They have a habit of nerfing any build that's good and completely patching out any build that's clever. Virtually everything I've ever done in SnG for D2 would be a complete waste in PoE. I couldn't even do my 'make two full chars' before they managed to nerf
both my builds out of existence (lightning warp totems was ruined by lower duration changes, kinetic blast + frost wall was removed entirely)
