Has anybody ever played any other game where you have to invest hundreds of dollars or thousands of fg just to be able to play through it?
I've played a few. Each of them were based on great concepts. And within a month 99.9% of players quit and moved on to something more engaging.
When an item-based game won't even give average quality loot, let alone good loot, after hundreds of hours of play, and it's all about spending $$$, it's no longer play to win, it's pay to win, and only those who're willing to invest tend to hang around.
Now before people come in and say, "You can get FG for free! Just sell stuff!" Okay... So let's say I sell every level 40+ item I get to skillers. The skillers only want to pay 1fg for them. In a full group, per climb, MAYBE 10-15 40+ items drop. Now assuming the odds of 1 in 5 come to me are correct, that means that to get an "average" item like a 140ee XIV axe, which would likely run AT LEAST 300fg, that means I'd have to do 100-150 climbs to afford 1 single, painfully average item. Now if climbs take an hour each (which, if you consider a 140ee XIV axe an upgrade, they probably aren't that fast), that's 100-150 hours. For ONE SINGLE AVERAGE ITEM. Now, if you go average items all the way, and say are trying to gear up a tank fighter, how many hours do you think it'd take finding nothing but 1fg shit to sell so you can buy overpriced garbage to accomplish a full charm, axe, and armor set? Better question yet, why is it worth it?
Or you could say, "Go play other games like runescape, farm there, use fg to become pro in LS!!!" Well... To be blunt, why would a person want to play another game to become pro in the game they are actually wanting to play? I mean, do you normally play Doom 3 to become awesome at Poker?
Drops need to change. I accept that we can't self-find a full set of gear for each class, trading IS a necessity. However, you've gotta get a decent amount of shit to sell for more than just 1fg to afford what you need to buy, otherwise it's just another random pay to win game.

asking for more items during speed climbs is dumb if you ask me.
if the drop rate must increase, it should be done so in a very controlled environment. something such as multiple trap doors or high level map explores.
either hunt for items or do speed climbs
Are you slow? We've already told you that there is NO DIFFERENCE. If anything, exploring and using trapdoors HURTS your chance for the 40+ items. Same number of mobs being killed, EPs drop shit, but whistling, you can kill more faster, getting a larger quantity of drops, gaining a better chance of getting at least an average quality item. If paul were to change it so that exploring was worthwhile? We'd all fucking explore and go back to 2 hour climbs. Why? Because we all need the damned gear. Maybe you should just shut the hell up?
