Rationalskepticism.org, they go by ratskep for short

The average forum resident there is an 18-20yo self entitled atheist who Happens to be an expert on every topic known to man.

If you do go there don't say anything negative about fibromyalgia. One of the mods there was diagnosed and has a thread dedicated to her daily struggles.

Anyway my point was there are annoying people on both sides.

no probs with the fibro as it plagues me along with RA. but unyielding know it all's meh.. I'm good atm.. :P

There are so many uneducated people in that specific subforum that I honestly prefer jsp's trolls to it. There are some smart users but a whole lot of people trying to get their +1s and coming up with the most baffling of ideas because your rank is correlated to your post count

There is a physicist though who is a regular in the astronomy subforum who is VERY smart. There are some really quality posters but they are vastly outnumbered in posters and posts.

It's the new wave of American atheism. It's rebellious now... :(

It should just be the norm - then people wouldn't be so aggro over it. Sadly even atheists are a product of religion in America.

Ironically, the new wave of American atheism was spawned by the Brits (Dawkins)! :)

Do we have to choose one or the other?

Yes. Those who believe the earth was created too recently for animals to evolve must deny that evolution is the source of existing animals.

Quote
Are there any transitional species?

Yes, and all species are transitional species.

Quote
How old is the earth/universe?

The earth is about 4.5 billion years old, the universe is about 13.8 billions years old.

Quote
If we came from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?

One population of animals can diverge from another, keeping one the same.

Quote
Where do we come from?

Monkeys

Quote
What is our purpose?

There is no purpose, no mission laid out by any imaginary creator, don't kid yourself

Quote
Is the big bang empirically testable?

Yes, and has been

Quote
is 7 day creation empirically testable?

No, and has not been

Is the bible to be interpreted literally?

You can interpret it upside down or inside out for all it matters, which is not at all

Quote
What do the facts say?

That evolution is real and the bible is false

Quote
Can you "believe" in creation/evolution and still contribute to society?

Ascribing to scientific theory is not a matter of belief

Quote
What are the harmful effects of "believing" one way or the other?

Your irrational rejection of science can on a cultural scale result in hostility towards intellectualism, raising a caste of retarded neophytes that will not contribute as much to society

Quote
Why did so many people sign that paper saying to be skeptical of evolution?

Because they are retarded

Quote
How was the grand canyon formed?

Erosion by the colorado river

Quote
What does 'incised meandering' mean?

When the downward erosion of a river occurs faster than its ability to cut a straight flood pain, resulting in a snakelike pattern as water courses through twisting valleys instead of a straight line

Quote
Can the millions of "bits" of data in the genome all come together randomly?

Natural selection is not a random process

Creation isn't a scientific theory so it doesn't belong in the science class. It has nothing to do with "hating religion".

it is a scientific fact
