it would still have to be a pretty extreme fortification job to add more than a few seconds to entry time is all i'm saying.

and to embarrass an entire police force in this case.

always good to know your local police have no common sense and think action movie rules apply to them.

This guy is in jail?

Why?

It sucks for the police, but I'm pretty sure Texas is a Castle Doctrine state.

welcome to the world in which flashbangs and tear gas exist.

real life doesn't follow action movie rules. the suspect has the advantage every single time because the police officer has strict rules to follow before he/she can defend themselves while the suspect can hide behind his wife and open fire for example.

which makes your point of 3 seconds more of surprise being a huge deal completely irrelevant.

3 seconds won't change anything aside from it gives them a chance to drop the gun before you breach the main door.

...and again , incorrect . Three seconds can mean the difference between life and death .

but to which party does this apply?

that is the point i'm trying to make. surprise won't change the occupants intent and aside from wild speculation won't change their ability to take a shot at a police officer.

if you are expecting armed resistance then its safe to assume the suspects will have gun in hand/on them in which case they will have the opportunity to take a shot at the officers either way because police have a slowed reaction time due to the protocols they follow.

so again...unless we are talking about a significant time period that allows them to put on body armor and get in their fighter jet then there is no advantage to complete surprise.
