http://www.policestateusa.com/2014/killeen-texas-fatal-raid/

A police officer suffered fatal injuries while performing a pre-dawn no-knock raid on a local residence to search for drugs. Several officers were shot by a resident as they tried to enter an apartment through a ground-level window under the cover of darkness.

Police spent 12 hours combing the house for evidence of drugs. No drugs were listed on the evidence sheet.

Very interested to see what happens with this case, as the defendant is a black male. Another case earlier this year ended with the homeowner, who is white, vindicated for firing on the thugs in blue: http://thelibertarianrepublic.com/texas-man-wont-prosecuted-killing-cop-knock-raid/#.U6Y1dvldU9Q

Anyhoo, If cops are determined to act like criminals they can die like criminals.

tldr: the 2nd Amendment did its job.

I'm no expert on tactics, but doesn't it make more sense to just bust the door down and go in full force if you're doing a no knock?

Sneaking in like a criminal is simply asking for a 2nd Amendment solution.

Breaking into someone's house at all does. No-knock raids are idiotic.

Probably just the ego of cops. They have near bureaucratic impunity to everything so it blows their minds when someone does whats justified which is why its so un expected. I wouldn't doubt this because the premise in the first place is over zealous. I agree with he OP.

Good thing it's not a crime to protect your home from violent thugs.

you are underestimating the kind of military hardware a post-911 police department has at its disposal.
