Obviously I don't like the game, there is potential but Anet is far too lazy to try and fix it.
This is entirely evident when you go from a system that has dual classes and quasi-limitless possible combinations of skills to a stagnant system like gw2 has. There is very little variation in utility skills, only a few being swapped out for situational issues. The weapon system is complete garbage, it wouldn't even be so bad if there was a few options to choose from, but every class I've played there are skills that aren't even used since they're incredibly pointless or weak. Obviously it was difficult to balance, but the general way the metagame shifted in the original game for pvp was simply by new builds being discovered. The problem lied in pve, which is why they split it into a pve/pvp balanced system, but obviously they weren't up to the challenge of creating a good game that required people to fix any problems that arose.
It's absolutely hilarious how this game exactly parallels diablo 2 and diablo 3. Take an amazing game that has a cult following, though cult following is the improper term as that would suggest it's a smaller group of fanatics, and completely ruin it because you're trying to squeeze money out of the sequel. Now obviously companies have to make money, but when you ruin a franchise in the process, you're in the end just going to make less money.
Has it ever dawned to you that maybe ArenaNet wanted to start completely from scratch and have a go at making another awesome game that was completely different from Guild Wars 1? No, it hasn't. You don't want to play Guild Wars 2, you want to play Guild Wars 1.01. Sorry, ArenaNet is too proud to go down the same road EA does with all of its games.
Also, ArenaNet, lazy? So just because they don't do what
you like, they are lazy? Screw the numerous patches they have done, with huge content updates and a new step in the living story every two damn weeks. Screw the fact that all of this is done completely for free, for absolutely everybody who owns a copy of the game. Screw all that -- as long as they don't feed people who are only in it for the rewards and e-penis, ArenaNet is lazy.
Do you say Coca Cola is lazy as well because you happen to like coffee, and they refuse to make a drink that tastes like coffee? No, you don't. Just go and play a game that you actually enjoy. Bye.
