my friend started using olive oil in her hair then letting it stay a while before shampooing. she said it's helped make her hair silky smooth. is that something you'd recommend trying?

Ray, what is your opinion on working out/resting while sick? I've always used intuition based on severity of the illness. For example, common cold I'll still lift... but sore throat and hoarsed cough I'm taking the day off. Today I am resting due to being sick. Hate skipping days, literally gives me anxiety/stress lol

Depends. If you're on CKD, no more than 20g per day. If you are not on CKD (keto) you can keep the carbs anywhere between 30-40%.

Olive Oil + Lemon + Egg Yolk actually is an extremely good cleaner/conditioner for the hair. However, it's expensive and takes time to prepare each time you use it. But overall it's one of the best things you can use.

ALWAYS rest while sick. You should NEVER lift while sick, as lifting increases free radicals in the body, stresses your immune system and nervous system, as well as can increase your risk of contracting additional germs/bacteria/viruses at the gym while your immune system is compromised. Furthermore you are spreading your germs to others at the gym, which is also inconsiderate.

I would always advise to rest while sick, lift when healthy.

I don't have access to a squat machine.
I thought about building or investing in one.

I'm sure a ton of body weight squats (I mostly do body weight) and ab exercises could do the trick but are there many decent substitions for that full body load that an Olympic bar squat gives you?

If you are NOT on keto, you can do either, as long as you are on a caloric deficit of at least 500 per day, and also get at least 1g / lb of bodyweight of protein.
