I want to know if server ram in bigger amount is as strong or stronger than having normal ram but in smaller amount?

Assuming you're running quad-channel, I wouldn't worry about the speed difference in ECC vs Non-ECC.

256gb is overkill nonetheless, unless you're doing something EXTREMELY serious and not just gaming.

Most of my builds are x99/c612 as they're cheap and plenty powerful.

Both 256 and 64GB is sufficient, it all comes down to the specific requirments of the applications and workloads you planing of running.
Are you doing memory-intensive applications, handling a large number of concurrent users?
Then 256 GB is better in the long run, if its less demanding workloads or smaller-scale applications then 64gb is enough.

Planning on future growth, then 256gb is better with scalability.
And if you running a server, be sure to have EEC, as this helps you in the long run.

For Memory intensive applications here we see examples as virtualization extensively, large databases, complex simulations, AI/Machine Learning, ERP etc

So in the end it all comes down to your specific needs.

All that sounds like work or people that have jobs.

What do you mean by strong or stronger?

I mean mhz speed but beside that I want to know if cheaper server rams doesn’t downplay itself just because it has 256 gb total. I’m not sure if the z230 can do this but it does say it max ram cap is 32 gb so does that mean the same for server ram amount if I switch it out? I think I thought of 256 gb for the z440.

It doesn't run slower just because there's more of it. The speed depends on the clock speed(MHz) & timing of the RAM.

What I don’t get is why would they sell server ram so cheap for workstations when people are forcing themselves to buy expensive real rams which total to less gb? If they are saying the workstation like z440 is non upgradable that isn’t true at all. It have enough power supply wattage and could upgrade gpu to a 6600 xt atleast.

Do you have a link to it? The only thing I can assume is it's either outdated or it's been heavily used which is why it's discounted

You can find server rams on eBay for super cheap. Like 64 gb of it can cost 20 bucks and brand is Samsung. I noticed the work station is counted as server system to accept these rams.
