The size of upgrade from McCaffrey to TyMont is going to be minuscule compared to the size of upgrade from just about any first round DB or edge rush talent vs. the guys we have under contract.

Sucks for him, but maybe the Raiders can sneak him on day 2 :)

I do hope it's something minor. Like a pulled hamstring or something.

Just for a comparison, we drafted Aaron Colvin in 2014 after he tore his ACL in Senior Bowl practices. That was in January and he was considered a 1st round pick.

He fell to the 4th round because of the injury and played in 6 games (1 start) in 2014.

Washington's Budda Baker said the injury to Sidney Jones occurred on the last defensive back drill of the day.

Just had NFL source (in attendance at Washington pro day) text:

"It's a torn Achilles" he was told for CB Sidney Jones. As feared.

ACL is the biggest of the "common" injuries in football.

Achilles is pretty bad, though. His cuts are gonna suffer and he'll have to rehab pretty hard. Still not as bad as an ACL, but if he was a 1st he's probably looking like a late 2nd/mid 3rd now depending on how bad it is.

He's probably going to miss the entire season now though, so he'll basically be a redshirt pick.

It's like a 8-12 month recovery time for Achilles injuries.

Depends on how serious (not all tears are the same) and how highly rated he was going into the draft, but you're right--he's gonna drop pretty hard.

I was under the impression that he was one of the top CB prospects, though, and while Achilles are long rehabs they're usually pretty recoverable. It'll be interesting to see how far he falls and who is willing to roll the dice on him.

He was in play to possibly be the 1st CB taken in the draft.

I believe most people have him and Lattimore as #1 and #2 CB in this draft. Some have Lattimore #1, but I'm pretty sure most considered them the top 2 CBs in this draft.

He's going to fall pretty far due to this injury imo.
