Runewords only fucked d2 because there were cookie cutter runewords that you had to use or youre a noob.

if they introduced something like this im sure your selection would be a lot bigger.

.10 gave way to many runewords that were to strong to not use them owuld be idiotic... but everybody used them n had the same shit because of it
bigger selection or not the best would get used and others never used just like d2 whether u got 10 or 100 to choose from ... if thers only 5 good ones thats all thats going to be used
however i do think there should be physical runes to put into sockets not just gems
