It's funny you mention regressive left when this all spurred from hentai games on the steam shop being complained about by the conservative steam users. The active shooter game was brought up as comparison, that steam had no issue leaving something like that up while going after the hentai visual novels that were showing up more and more. This is one of those decisions where no one wins, at least among users of steam. Ever since greenlight, steam has been extremely lax in their policing of garbage content, allowing asset flippers and even outright copies of other games to flourish. Only going after something when it becomes too public. Their recent decision to go after the visual novels was kind of mind boggling given their previous feet dragging over the complaints of asset flippers and card farming games.

Don't care about the "controversy" but I do care that the store is going to be overrun again with crap that you can't filter out.

I’ve never used steam
Is it a game store like GameStop? That’s only online with no brick and mortar stores?

Digital distribution platform for the majority of all PC games on the market.

My favourite subject when I don't know if I want to laugh or cry. The same little shits ala Polygon/Kotaku/Waypoint being conniving little hypocritical cunts all day everyday. Everyone remembers how the regressive left pre and post gamergate were talking about bogus gaming causes violence meme studies and gamers are mysoginistic harassers

Remember last year when the white house and Donald Trump tried to revive the spectre of Jack Thompson? Since it was the nazis trying to censor games, for a bit they switched the story because #theresistance. But now they're back with blaming platforms for allowing what they consider deplorable content. With them it's always about deplatforming, truly orwellian times.
It's amazing how video game "journalism" has a cabal of self-serving doxxers running the show. I mean I get it, most of them are miserable and hate video games at this point because it was the only publications who removed them from a life of starbucks.

The sad thing is playing the victim over and over and crying gamergate everytime they get called out for their abhorrent behaviours actually works on a decent chunk of the masses.

My favourite drama in recent times was when Jason Schreier won an award for Journalism for some of his articles. The award was made in reaction to gamergate and Jason went on twitter after winning making fun of it and saying essentially "take that gamergate". Completely missing the point thst they fought so that writers like him would actually, y'know... Write quality pieces without bias dripping from the pieces. That was fun, bonus point when womyn on twitter told him he shouldn't accepted. White men have enough awards afterall.

Was it conservatives leading the charges? That doesn't make any sense though, the gaming sites keep telling me 4chan and /a/ is full of alt-right weebs. Someone isn't the truth here, I wonder who

Fun aside, it's not like regressive SJWs are not allies in this fight. They hate that the hyper sexual pandering nation of Japan doesn't bow to their call for boycotts and censorship. Everytime a JRPG comes out the outrage at sexualized girl characters erupts. Dead or Alive series, Dragon's Crown drama from years ago, H visual novels. I think the REEE was pretty strong with Xenoblade 2 from last december.

Western devs have to take care not to offend the ones wanting to be offended because they feel like the bad press with ruin sales. Japan devs with small markets in the west could not care less and the REEEEs hate it.

This is why certain publications often rate JRPGs and other games out of Japan much harshly than certain other games. They don't get bonus rating points from journalists because they are not a RPG with tolerant romance options with fully inclusive and non problematic dialogue choices with a "inuitive" design( fuck your wheel Bioware ).

I know you're poking fun , but yes this was all started as a campaign by the National Center on Sexual Exploitation. It got it's footing back in May. They're kind of pissed right now.

The events that led to this particular decision? yes. The center began flooding steam and other digital distribution platforms back in may, and that's when the developers started receiving notices and having their visual novels pulled. Some games that were up for years without issue. At first people were "so what?" then it gained traction and people threw a fit. Hence this reversal. The recent event was the part of an "aggressive" plan that Dawn Hawkins started 2 years ago.

In case you don't know who she is.

Quote
Dawn E. Hawkins serves as executive director and senior vice president of the National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCSE), where she has developed a national strategy uniting conservative, women’s rights, child advocacy and religious groups, as well as bipartisan political leadership, to work together to raise awareness about the harmful effects of pornography.

And they just posted a change to cards, so looks like they realized their original blog post made it look like they were just going to sit on their ass again. That makes me happy.

Main issue i have is parents have zero oversight of what their kids play these days, pubg and fortnite are as popular as minecraft with 10 year olds these days.
