The guy was acting in an aggressive manner, when the officer gets in his face he decides to walk backwards?
:wallbash:
Yes, the man takes a step backward. That in itself would have been fine. However, he also stood straight up, where before he was slouched forward, and raised his arms. Couple that with a raised voice, vulgar language, a threatening tone, and obvious emotional distress and you have an APPARENTLY AGGRESSIVE individual.
You have countless time to sit in your chair and go over all the things happening. That officer has a split second to make a decision.
He didn’t shoot the guy, he didn’t taser the guy, he didn’t pepper spray the guy, and hell he didn’t even HIT the guy. He made necessary physical contact in order to create space against an apparently imminent threat, and the guy wasn’t hurt at all until he charged back at the officer.
So like I said, you’re clearly ignorant to the situation and practical application for escalation of force.
