Several issues with this post.

1. You think US servicemen (any servicemen for that matter) get paid through the nose?

2. Where has the US engaged or assisted in mass murder? Please provide evidence.

3. He's not complaining about not living in luxury while he was in the military, hes complaining, I think, that our military had aspects to it that were not befitting of a modern, first class military.

edit: I will say though, I think we should think more about closing some of the permanent bases we have around the world and focus those funds on military research and keeping our forces at top condition with the technology available.

We do spend a lot on "defense" but a lot of it is squandered in the military-industrial complex, unfortunately its a really hard issue to tackle unless we pull in nutty candidates like Ron Paul that would somehow have senate/house support even though they are all bought out by said military-industrial complex

But then you have to pay rent n shit. That's 45k of disposable income. Makes a difference. Should they be paid more? Probably. They still get more than most nurses though and I know who I'd rather get the lion's share.

I don't know about that mate. I dated a nurse, who had less less than 2 years experience and she was pulling in $55,000 with an associates degree. You're right that they don't pay for food, rent & other basic necessities but i value freedom, comfort and safety much more than 40 thousand. Although she did work her ass off for that money, having to deal with catheters, people hemorrhaging blood, seeing people die, etc not stuff i would particularly like to do.
