Because ISPs have blocked filtered/buffered content before, and they'll do it again. Comcast intentionally slowed down Netflix traffic on their network until Netflix coughed up millions of dollars to Comcast to give their data equal priority. Other ISPs, like AT&T, Verizon, etc have done similar things in the past, before Net Neutrality. Now they have the ability to do so again. And if you think switching ISPs is such a easy option, I'll give you an example of where I live. My cable Internet gets 60Mbps service, sufficient for what I do. The only other terrestrial provider in my neighborhood is the phone company's DSL, which offers a MAX of 6Mbps down. I cannot stream 4K TV at 6Mbps (and 1080p might struggle a bit at that rate. OTA providers like 4G or satellite come with their own restrictions (data limits for 4G LTE service, or horrible latency with satellite). And fiber isn't even available in my area yet. So switching ISPs often ends up with an inferior product.

Far to many people right now have the impression it wasnt around prior to 2015 and this leads them to think getting rid of it will totally be fine. Allowing people to think that is a bad idea.
