So I'm looking at building a new computer potentially by Christmas time. Looking for around $1800-2000 for the actual parts, and $1000-$1200 tops for monitor

I want to be able to game on an ultrawide 1440p preferably with g-sync. Here i my current pc-part picker using ryzen https://pcpartpicker.com/list/hQpLGf

Just checking to see if anyone has a better build. Not picky on ryzen vs intel. or potentially getting a 1080 instead of a 1080ti

Budget: $3000 overall tops
More specific use (what games, what programs): Gaming (4k ultrawide), work (pentaho, sql, excel stuff), photo/video editing
Planned time until purchase: Potentially by December
Do you need an Operating System?: Not really
Do you have any specific preferred components?: GTX graphics but that's it
Do you need a sound or wireless card?: no
Do you want stock cooling or do you plan on overclocking?: Probably watercooled, but don't really overclock often
Do you need a monitor? mouse? keyboard?: Monitor (4k ultrawide)
Zip code/location? (Shipping costs): 01721

I do have access to microcenter in my state

Also wondering if I should bother upgrading atm, or wait for the rumored new gtx cards potentially next year. I've always heard to "skip a model" when buying graphics cards. My current rig is below

amd-fx 8350
16 gigs ddr3 ram
gigabyte gtx 970 g-1 gaming
can't remember my motherboard but it's decent
h-100 cooler

Im rocking a 3570k liquid cooled and a 970 with 16 gigs of ram and I havent had a need to upgrade lately. Sucks having a few games that I can't max out without sacrificing FPS but overall its still a solid machine.

Yeah my main thing is that I'm wanting to get a 34 inch "4k" monitor and start gaming in that soon. I know my comp can still last a while at 60 Hz 1080p stuff

There is no 4k ultrawide yet.
Are you talking about 1440p ultrawide?

Yeah I mentioned 1440p in the second paragraph but forgot to specify in the part list. I've been looking at Samsung cf791, but more than likely will get a gsync monitor instead

At that point go with a threadripper build if you have 3000 to spend.
Figuring it like this: $600 graphic card / $100 power supply / $1,000 cpu (prices will come down on christmas time) / $100.00 mobo / $200.00 (ram) little overkill though / $1000.00 on monitor (will come down christmas time)

don't listen to cocoo, that's not enough for a threadripper build realistically. $100 threadripper motherboard, Lol. No storage or case either.

/e maybe if you didnt need a monitor it would be doable
