I'm no mathemagician, but I'm pretty sure that's incorrect.

FWIW, being able to Google is probably the vast majority of IT problem solving until you've had enough experience in the job. Traditional education can give a good foundation and help develop good habits, but will only go so far in the workplace.

It also teaches you theory and problem solving that you otherwise wouldn't otherwise learn. The ROI I've gotten from my degree has been worth it. I've heard a few times that on average having a bachelor's nets your roughly 1 million extra over the course of your lifetime. 1 million dollars extra for the ~ $40k I spent going to state school for 4 years? Not everyone needs it, but it sure makes getting a job easier.

I have never once copy and pasted code from stackoverflow and I actually never used it because the information was so inaccurate the forums I used they actually refused to supply people with answers and would only direct them down the right path

I was taught by microsoft MVPs for free

I am not saying that Google education is for everyone, but if you are intelligent and can teach yourself, its the best way to go.

Abduct assumes Im just some idiot who copy pastad my way through life, but thats not the case.

College won't teach you problem solving techniques either, and please define a proper education, because it seems you are implying that college is the proper way, but most people who go to college never get a job and have wasted 4 years of their life and their credit.

I did not say college is for everyone. However shrugging it off as inferior to "teaching yourself" is arrogant and ignorant.

See, the problem here is that 97% of the world is below average intelligence, so that means 97% of you would be too stupid to teach yourself with Google

Thats why its so hard for you to relate.

I understand that this comment will anger a lot of people, but thats life, the stupid always are angry with the smart because they cant comprehend things the same. This is a proven fact, stupid follow stupid and kill the smart. Thats why people burned witches on crosses. Because witches knew medicine and stupid people were scared of it. That is also why religion is so powerful because 97% of the world is dumb enough to believe it.

I was giving you the benefit of the doubt but I now also think you are stupid.

I have met a number of programmers throughout my career. Some of those who received formal computer science training at a university are great, while others are morons. Some of those who went to coding bootcamps are great, while others are morons. Some of those who self-taught through internet searches are great, while others are morons. The reality is any education is what you make of it.

Personally, I am a self-taught programmer who went to school to focus on the mathematics of computer science. It worked for me, but that setting does not work for a lot of people. The reality is the world needs more good programmers and I have seen them come out of all sorts of education systems.

The fact that you got mad at the part I said would make stupid people mad, thats just too funny to me.

It would seem like you are lumping yourself into the smart group in a thread discussing that all your successes are attributed to information from other people you found through Google.
