War in the region will very likely not happen under Moon Jae-in. The new government is staunchly against the former ousted president's conservative (aggressive; escalatory) agenda against N.K. The Democratic party is more in favor of humanitarian aid and diplomacy. As such, the U.S. will not intervene without S.K. So, unless North Korea tries actually launching missiles toward anything but the Sea of Korea, then I doubt anything will happen in the foreseeable future (until a new conservative government takes power in South Korea.)

Long ballistic missiles can be tested on short distance by modifying the trajectory/curve [extremely vertical]
The 05/14 test was 787km distance but 2111 km altitude, meaning a potential of 4500km (some ppl said 6000)

So what will happend if NK make another test revealing a potential of 10000 km (but still landing in a relatively short range)?

By landing the the Sea of Korea, I mean a botched test. Currently, the U.S. cyber attacks on N.K. launching equipment have been quite successful, let alone the installment of multiple THAADs on the Korean Peninsula and an increased military pressure from Japan.

Likewise, N.K. may be slightly backing down. Dennis Rodman visits today, and they've released the Virginian student who was arrested during his study abroad trip (he has been in a coma for about a year; no updates on his condition yet as far as I know.)

Will be interesting to see if they release any other Americans surrounding Rodman's visit.

Release of a guy in a coma... Nk is clearly going to surrender

Us cyber attack seems mostly to be a construction from conspiracy websites...
And if real it has a very limited action in time anyway, that cant be done again.

I dont see anything stopping NK in getting ICBM.

[High-profile articles on cyber warfare against NK.]

Also, many outlets have documented the treatment of past Americans held by North Korea. To summarize, they are usually not held in prisons. Usually dorms or hotels. They have access to books, even technology. Some had to work in farms, some didn't have to work at all. Usually they are held as bargaining chips and treated very well.

Warmbier seems to be an outlier. We don't know his conditions or treatment while in N.K.

happy 4 july everybody

North Korea made another lauch 'test' today:

- 930 km
- altitude unspecified yet
- fall in japan sea area

Essential informations about its altitude will be released soon.

It could be a very standard test using - a vehicle - (hard, if not impossible, to prevent/detect) and poiting directly to american bases in japan
(with a modified angle to not hit it)

Found an interesting article explaining the ‘lofting’ technique, must read it:

Ah, top news: the altitude of the missile was 1,700 miles

so to make it short, ‘lofting’ technique;

The 05/14 test was 787km distance but 2111 km altitude, meaning a potential of 4500km (some ppl said 6000)

The 07/04 -today- test was 930km distance but 2800 km altitude, meaning a potential of .......

NK just proved they are ready for ICBM.

I guess next step is more range and/or nuclear EMP technology.

A 'war' could start today, I would not be surprised.

Great article, giving you a comprehensive look at what the options/consequences are for dealing with NK.

You know what... I think striking North Korea might be the only way Trump could get reelected.

If the US struck North Korea and they came out of it with an ounce of energy left, they'd raise SK to the ground. Too risky when considering NK can't launch an ICBM over 3000km, let alone miniaturise a warhead.
