Well this would mean people can still double register accounts, i want to be able to create an account with a common name and not get jacked. I need somone to clarify this shit once and for all

ofc if i had of gotten a password for my old account i would have left the gear and characters on it (after having a nosy look around) and returned the password to the rightful owner as the good D2JSP citizen i am

Bullshit. Show me where you've seen this. Accounts lost recently were lost/deleted due to Blizzard "maintenance" not double registering.

People have also lost accounts by not perming them in the first 48 hours. If this isn't done Blizz may delete the account after 14 days (sometimes even sooner). Then someone else can make the account. Some people assume they have lost the account due to double registering but this is not the case.
