Top 5 results for the following query all put java before any scripting language so please stop being an arrogant jackass in every thread when you don't know what you're talking about.

Edit/P.S. I know these are not back-end specific, but I can't find any stats on that and I think the results will not be significantly different.

I'm not denying that Java isn't used a lot. I'm just saying it is not popular for backend web development.

If you want to get a developer position in CA you need to have a github account loaded with examples of your work.
You should also use linkedin of course.
Another suggestion would be to use the meetup website to network and get yourself some connections. It's pretty difficult to get a job in CA without some sort of help.
Some job posting boards....Indeed/hired/monster
There's also a great book called "cracking the coding interview" its pretty cheap.

This.

The only thing I've seen Java used for is if you want to give the client a web app that they can deploy locally but don't want them to have the source code.

java is common for webapps, but mostly enterprisey™ kind. Eg. Blizzard's website is made in java :)

(or at least part of it. Here is default 404 http://mobile-service.blizzard.com/enrollment/en/asdf )

So if you think he means JavaScript, what back-end environment do you think this widespread back-end javascript is being run on? NodeJs (which was released 7 years ago)?
