Might be the worst worded statement and correction of 2017, but he's right, Hitler didn't use chemical weapons in world war 2, and made a very strict point of never authorizing their use, though one or two disputed incidents of gas attacks might have occurred on the eastern front.

Using Germany in this example was a stupid mistake. And yes, even Spicer's elaboration afterwards was poor.
Not that he could correct it in any satisfying manner though.

Spicer just made a legit apology on CNN. I hope we can all move past this tragic moment in our country's history.

I was listening to some of his briefing at work and I was confused when Spicer called Iran a failed state though. Dude needs to retake PSCI101.

These are deep scars, it won't be easy to move on. I think we should light up various landmarks in holocaust remembrance colors, put flags at half staff, host campus cry-in's where students are provided therapy dogs, play-doh, blankets and counselling and have a general strike of all people offended by the comments who take tomorrow off work to join a protest march in DC where they will leave trash on the streets to signify the trash coming out of Spicer's mouth.
