We have a long history of the government protecting constitutional rights when states refuse to do so. Whether or not this issue qualifies is certainly up for debate, but just falling back on "states rights!" is a weak argument.

It really is. It so often comes down to a state's right to discriminate. This goes all the way back throughout our history and one side's unwillingness to even speak the basic truth of us having a war over slavery to begin with.

Question someone should have asked:

So you say we should believe Clapper when he says they've found no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russians. Fair enough. Clapper also says there were no wiretaps of Trump Tower. Should we believe him here, too? If not, why not? And if he's not credible here, why is he credible when he says things you agree with? And if he is credible in both cases, can you get the President to shut the fuck up, please?
