I don't think you know what late 90s game code looked like.
In order to fix the dupe method they would have to know the dupe method. Even then they would have to sift through code written by someone who hasn't worked for the company in 12 years, sometimes without documentation. To patch a bug for a game that nobody plays that is mostly beneficial.
It's not worth the effort or the money.
