Super got better... Berserk did not. This is literally the worst animation I have ever seen, you'd have to have downs or something to think it's anything but terrible.

super is 5x episodes fam, take the loss

The fact that this is like the best story/source material around and all people can do is bitch about animation that's actually interesting when there's so much crap out there, i think the down's people just can't map out the 3d space in their head or something

I can understand the artwork being subjective though

Also don't forget that 3d is the future of animation, panning a show like this that actually tried because it's not quite right for you is just going to set the whole industry back! Enjoy your crappy 2d animation for years to come i guess

Did you notice how that trailer has good animation? Berserk does not lol. Here's a tip, if you can't do something well, don't fucking do it.

It's just annoying when this anime should have been something special and it is for me but others can't seem to appreciate it
90% of the stuff I watch the animation is pretty standard and I don't even notice it, then we have one that's actually fucking good and adds a lot to the enjoyment of the show for me but for other people it's particularly bad?

(I want to say I've been waiting for this for years but i actually just watched the original right before this aired )

What bothers me more than anything else is the fact that they show good animation in the intro song..... Why, why in the name of everything that's holy did you not use an animation style like that? I'll still watch this eventually, it's just really fucking hard for me to overlook how horribly shitty the animation is to me. I love Berserk, it's what got me hooked on Anime as a kid. All I ever wanted was more of it to be animated and it's been nothing but disappointment.

3D isn't the future it's the now (you speak as if 3D is some new thing. lol), it's also not a full on replacement for 2D and never will be.

also Violet Evergarden is being done by a competent studio ( KyoAni )
so that's why they can manage to make the 3D look good, like how Ufotable can make it look good.
also could very well be a movie/OVA so that would make it's budget higher which means better looking.

there's a difference between style and just downright shitty work.
and Berserk anime really is a shitty piece of work.
