Only candidate I will allow myself to vote for
I hope bernie gets the dem nomination, though I still won't vote for him, and I hope every republican candidate gets pushed into a deep fryer along with Clinton.

So when Bernie Sanders complains about a corrupt campaign finance system, libertarians think it is stupid, but when Gary Johnson does it, it is amazing?

He looks like a well-principled candidate that I would like, and I generally like libertarianism, but I'm just saying both Sanders (and Trump) have made similar points about special interests and buying politicians to what he said about winning liberty in 1776.

He is in favor of the first amendment last I checked and doesn't seek to prohibit anti-democrat productions.
Bernies solution of 'getting money out of politics' by greatly expanding how much money is in politics is also a no go for libertarians.
On most other issues Gary Johnson is mostly far and away better than BS too.
GJ being the best candidate does not hinge on his 'politicians are bought' rhetoric. The 'we need to keep fighting for liberty' and his advocacy for more liberty and less government is much more key.

Governor Johnson, who has been referred to as the ‘most fiscally conservative Governor’ in the country, was the Republican Governor of New Mexico from 1994-2003.

Johnson is best known for his veto record, having vetoed more than 750 bills during his time in office — more than all other governors combined. His use of the veto pen has since earned him the nickname “Governor Veto.” He cut taxes 14 times while never raising them. When he left office, New Mexico was one of only four states in the country with a balanced budget.

Ummm, Bernie wants a realistic publically funded campaign finance system. How is that expanding how much money is in politics?

And even then isn't it disingenuous to say he wants more money in politics when the point is not making people beholden to the donors?

A vote for 3rd party is a vote wasted.

For good or ill, Obama, the Tea Party, and Trump show that the path to change must go through the two main parties.

Major parties have died before. When the major parties put forth terrible candidates, they deserve it.

I just got done with my senate district convention. We had to go through 6 rounds of balloting to endorse a candidate from 4 options. My guy won, in part because those of us who've been working to make the Republican party better worked in unison. Next up, selecting the nominee to go up against Angie Craig for MN-2, where we have 2 excellent constitutional conservatives and a former state senator going up against a political novice with establishment backing and money.

A bad candidate, IMO, is one who doesn't win. I tend to agree with you that a party deserves to die if they consistently lose.

If they win, but they don't do anything you sent them there to do, you didn't really win anyways.

I don't think that is necessarily true.

For instance, I think McCain was a great candidate.

But 2008 was going to the Dems no matter what because of W's failed presidency.

Sometimes you can be the victim or benieficiary of the current political climate.
