I read a while ago that Verizon didn't pay anything last year and even got a refund. Damn good accountants.

Hi,

I'm all about the, dont question the higher ups, if you can do better, you run for president and change everything crew.

so thats my background.

when I hear about a very good (liberal) idea my go to question is: who's going to pay for it all? (anything bernie sanders is proposing pretty much).

Someone answered: The corporations that aren't paying any taxes.

my natural response is: liberal scum hippy.

but okay. enough of blind patriotism. time to look at facts and open my mind.

CAN SOMEONE PLS FIND ME ONE PROFITABLE CORPORATION THAT ISNT PAYING ANY TAXES???????????????????????????

US federal tax revenue has grown 64% since 2000 while US GDP has grown 87%. If revenue had increased the same percentage as GDP, we wouldn't have a deficit right now.

That statistic is cherry picking the very highest federal tax revenue year (as % of gdp) since 1944.
The 2014 17.5% is in line with historical averages or higher.

US GDP has also only grown just under 70% from 2000-2014/15 according to the numbers I found, not 87%.
