I've been playing multiple games through the years, and Ladder Slasher is my favorite.
Why I like it so much and say it is spiritual? It cuts through the BS, it is simple and to the point. It doesn't require too much attention, doesn't stress you out (unless you explore in HC maybe). People play videogames to relax, but most the other games I played actually stressed me out instead of helping me to relax.
All the other games are "mind oriented". Fancy graphics, stories and cinematics to feed the mind. F*ck that sh*t, I personally don't need that to enjoy a game.
The goal of LS is basically the same than every other game like d2 or whatever: to improve your dmgs... it just cuts through the BS and go directly to the point as I said earlier. The proficiency system is just great. The more you play, the better you get. Makes sense. That is how it works in "real life" (sports, music instruments etc.) Even if you don't find better gear (that could be slightly improved, seems like good drops are getting very rare these days), your dmg will still get better if you play enough. The guild point system is also great (Too bad my guild is not more LS oriented, but we still made it to page one with at most 3 active players at a time, mostly just one. This shows that patience and commitment pay, just like in real life).
Oh, and the forum gold system with fee is kinda good too. That way every player passively, freely contributes to keeping the game/website up (taking fg out of the system, so some people at some point will have to pay). Makes sense too.
Oh and the repetition in it (1-71 and repeat) is spiritual too. That, too reflects how life basically works. Everything repeats in nature. Days, seasons, etc.
I do not know any other game that is so flexible. You can play it efficiently and do something else at the same time, especially if you solo (but even in groups, you can easily watch a movie for example and still clic a lot, I do it most of the time).
I hope more people will realize this and join the great community (all the players are really cool in here... with few exceptions as always) →
spread the word, get your friends to play it, explain them why it is so good.HF GL.
