Courtney Canfield was fired from her job at the Gop run Secretary of State Office for not attending church services regularly and not attending prayer meetings held in the Secretary of State's office. She was invited several times by a co-worker to attend services but declined not because she's un-religious she just didn't attend regularly. Asst. Sec. of State Rucker visited Canfield's Grandmother who holds a position in the Kansas Republican party, and first asked her to fire her grand daughter when she refused he emphatically stated that he would fire her for not attending church.
This is a Clear Breach of the separation of church of state and needs to be dealt with in the most strict of manner. We can't have government officials using religious reasons for any state or federal decisions.

A lawsuit filed against the Kansas Secretary of State’s Office in federal court alleges that Assistant Secretary of State Eric Rucker fired a woman because she would not attend a Christian religious service.
Courtney Canfield, who previously worked as a business-filing specialist at the Secretary of State’s Office, alleges that she was fired from her job in 2013 because she did not attend a prayer service.
The complaint, filed in federal court earlier this month, says that Secretary of State Kris Kobach’s assistant invited Canfield to attend a service that would held at the Secretary of State’s Office by Dave DePue, a minister who serves as unofficial pastor of the Kansas Capitol.
“These invitations were distributed during normal business hours and included a ‘prayer guide’ to be utilized at that week’s service. Despite the repeated invitations, Plaintiff never attended such a service,” the lawsuit states. “While Plaintiff was a Methodist, she did not regularly attend church services or otherwise practice any particular religious beliefs in any way.”

The lawsuit states Canfield was promoted in June 2013 and had no disciplinary actions until November, when a co-worker complained she used an office phone to make a person call. Soon after, the lawsuit states Rucker visited Canfield's grandmother, who works for the Kansas Republican Party, at her home, and said she needed to fire Canfield.
According to the lawsuit, the grandmother says Rucker repeatedly stated the reason for the termination was that Canfield "just doesn't go to church."
Rucker fired Canfield three days later.
