Most definitions of person refer to a human being, so it's kind of irrelevant in my eyes if you attach the label "person" or not.

there was a time when infants without names were not considered persons who are afforded rights/protection by the state

Perhaps at some point they called you a peer counselor but that is just about as worthless in academic circles as the title youth pastor in a church organization .
