I agree that he could have had access. The problem is with society. WE have abandoned our fellow man and allowed the government to "take responsibility."
If someone is raping your child in front of you, should you wait for the police to come or do you physically stop the horrific act?
If your home is burning down, do you wait for the fire department or do you do everything in your power to save your home?
If someone is clearly depressed do you wait for Obama to take care of it? Apparently, the answer is yes.

As do I, and this goes to show how little things like wealth and fame have on an individual's well-being, and further, how little things like economic reform or social progress have on the general well-being of a society. Until we can directly improve the neural correlates of hedonic tone in the brain via technology (or at the very least via effective drugs), depression will continue on indefinitely.
