Non-interventionist =/= pacifist. These people are going to keep killing each other unless we spend another 25 years stomping them into the dirt and forcing moderate governance on them the entire time.

I don't think it's that simple. There are some peaceful groups in Iraq. If ISIS wants to go after the Syrian government, fine. If ISIS wants to fight Hezbollah, fine. But if we can protect peaceful groups by pushing ISIS away from them, I think it's our moral obligation to do so.

I think Obama is late to the game but better late than never.

sorry, but ISIS has been far, far more destructive than Hamas. Maybe the intentions are comparable, but in the end, we judge by the outcomes, not the intentions.

Not really true. I've heard they give them an option to convert or pay a protection tax.

depends on the particular religious minority, Christians and Jews might get off by paying Jizya (and some executions), but Shi'ites (& possibly the Druze) and the Yazids will probs face slaughter
it's for cases like this that the practice of taqiyya is allowed for Shi'ites
