if there was more reasoning beyond it being a religious book then it would be a different story, such as if the teacher had assigned specific books or a specific genre for the class and the bible didn't fit.

Agree . But the firing and suing is just you being inflamed because you are a Christian and you're angry about something that discriminates against a fellow Christian .
School board has clarified it for all and I doubt it will ever happen again .
Case closed.
For reference he can read the book during recess , lunch and free time . The teacher decides course acceptable material . If the teacher decides that classroom time is not appropriate time to be doing your religious studies ... Then it's not an appropriate time for it .
