I've never warmed a drive up or heard about doing such things.
Probably cause it really doesn't matter if you're from... Texas.
When a hard drive has spent all day in a truck and you bring it into a warm house, you should let it come to room temperature slowly. This will prevent condensation from forming inside the hard drive. Even microscopic particles of moisture can cause the heads to crash.
If in extremely cold weather, like -20 or -30F below zero, the lubricant can thicken or freeze, which will cause the hard drive to operate more slowly than it should. This can ofc corrupt the data you are moving to the drive.
