I guess he was the only vocalist to every work with Coltrane (they have one album that I know of), so he's significant for that. Really sounds like Sinatra and this album, the one from that video, is his best, for my money, so fucking solid.

Listening to this album again, Hard Bop, but tempo is superfast so might satisfiy the avantgarde nuts anyway.

Damn, that Mtume Umoja album is crazy! I've never heard about it before and it's stunning, nice post.

This song is awesome, fantastic contemporary sax player.
