Cant be an infection, as ive used several copies of Win 7 (including versions like ult/prof/home)
Windows Updates is never set to auto though, can guarantee that
Last resort might be that its Sager laptop itself, but its way past warranty (even though I told them about the problem well over 6 months ago)
