sometimes, but not always. welfare payments are a better option than the crime and misery that poverty without welfare creates, but it's clearly better still to not have the recipients of welfare checks in the country in the first place. housing is another area where illegal immigration is without a doubt having a negative impact. and the same also holds true for many, though not all, areas of the job market.

Not sure, but I think Thor's entire political viewpoint, revolves around him getting a free college degree.

"Some, but not others" describes most situations in any discussion.

We could end welfare, but the country would suffer for it more than it does to pay the welfare out. It's an issue of optimization.

Too often you get people like Cam who want to go all the way to 0%. It's just easier to say "NONE AT ALL" than have a nuanced debate about the merits of 38% versus 43%.

Not sure, but I think, Ghot doesn't, know how to, use a comma.

I invented my own comma system. I didn't like the one that was being taught.

It was the Oxford comma that did me in. I was fine with the "approved" comma system up till then.
But once I saw that it was legal to throw a comma after the word: "and" in a list, in a sentence, I decided that if after all these years, that was still undecided...that I could just make my own.

All that aside, I still think you're letting your current situation, make political viewpoint decisions for you. :)

Not saying it's necessarily a bad thing, just noticing it.

Nah, it has nothing to do with my current situation. I'm going to be able to pay back my student loans, and the investment will pay off several times over yearly until I retire.

That being said, I chose a lucrative career such that even the worst paying positions still make a butt-load of cash.

The real reason we should make college free is that to put it simply, we can afford to. Congress regularly authorizes extra spending provisions for the military that would pay for national college tuition for decades at a time and it completely slips under the public's radar. If we made college free it wouldn't significantly impact the national budget and the public would have a giant burden taken off their shoulders.

Unfortunately, in today's world we need the military a bit more than we do college grads.
I would love to be living in a world where this wasn't true. But the world isn't like it is because of the US political system, or it's decisions.

Somebody has to keep a military force. Unfortunately, since the US is pretty much the "new guy" on the block, it seems that responsibility falls on us.

this meme would only make sense if it's referring to socialism as communism. socialism 100 years ago means something a lot different to what it means now so the conflation of those two ideologies is a fallacy.

socialism as promoted by liberals in current year is a mixed economy comprised of a largely capitalist system with some industries publicly owned such as the army, railways, energy, telecomms and steel.

We could significantly cut the military and maintain hegemony.

These extra funds are beyond the approved budget and aren't make or break deals.

A world without college grads is a world where our military consists of men armed with sticks lead by a man with two sticks.

Maintaining our technological dominance is paramount to military dominance, and giving access to education pays for itself.

Don't even mate. Endless simply doesn't have the capacity to understand nuance. Capitalism = Murica = Good, Socialism = dumb liberal bullshit = bad. It's all he can handle.
