putting an ex apple exec in charge of cpu division wasnt the brightest idea. and on-chip gpu isnt exactly a winning idea either.

well apu isnt a stupid idea cuz they are winning that market as far as going for an i3 or a apu which competes + has a much better gpu

apu isnt ready. the gpu side is too weak to really be great. more power would only overload the TDP. they should design seperate chips directly on the motherboard much like the northbridge.

Finally starts shipping on 1rst of october for APU's. Then 3-4 week of october for PileDriver.
Let's hope for some decent performance this time :drool:

I just hope the trinity APUs perform really well. It would be fun to make an htpc with one of the newer ones since you can make it play decent games with decent fps. The other ones already play pcsx2 pretty smoothly. Maybe I'll upgrade my mobo + apu on my htpc depending on how the trinity's do.

Anandtech did an article on Trinity performance GPU side. Pretty promising stuff. Be really good for an HTPC or a low end gaming machine. They are still under NDA for CPU benchmarks though.
