do you have a link to the original BitOG thread for this UOA?

it's from the LXForums,

http://www.lxforums.com/board/f249/used-oil-analysis-royal-purple-10w30-ugly-309668/

apparently Blackstone even called him to advise him to get an oil change asap, lol

but anyways, I never meant to start an OIL war. just to clear that one up :)

Ok so first is:

Nology Hot Wires,  apparently they allow for a greater transfer of spark for superior combustion.. And I must say,  this is impressive.

So if you get a stronger spark you'll get way better combustion,  and more power,  cool idea and I've seen it on so many cars now that it's gotta work.

Tuning chips,  $70!

Regularly these are $400 msrp,  this site sells them for $70,  they claim that you get up to 60 hp when you use it,  I'd say on a 4 cyl,  turbo car like mine it would get around 25-35 with this chip,  $70 doesn't seem so bad for that much power.

and

These guys got 10hp out of only changing their oil,  that's impressive,  I'm looking into the cost of this in the morning.

this reminds me of that one story of the dude who bought a brand new porsche 911 turbo and threw a super cheap chip on it which was supposed to add 75-100 horsepower. Engine went a week then blew...... poor mr porsche 911 turbo

Agreed, any of the QUICK + Horsepower items are a waste of time. All of these items will only work with supporting modifications, (ie: spark, fuel and air differences) and once you change ONE component it WILL simultaneously affect the others.

Cold air intakes do NOT add more power, power is usually most restricted at the plenum, it would be like using a 2.5 inch downpipe on a turbo with a 3 inch exhaust system......Where's the logic?

The quickest way to make your car quicker, in my humble opinion, is to lighten the flywheel, change the rear end gearing, Ignition upgrades, advancing the timing etc...., and then of course there is head work, which we all know starts to add up, but again without intake manifold upgrades there's no point.

But that's the whole point of my argument, if you want a fast car you need to pay for it. Is it going to be a race car or a daily driver? You have to decide.

Remember:

Cheap and Fast is not Reliable.
Cheap and Reliable is not Fast.
Fast and Reliable is not Cheap.

That's olive.

Olive oil leaves residue on your engine's internals.
