every once in a while my computer will lock up and I'll get this purple screen thats all f'd up. It almost looks like that matrix thing where green numbers roll down the screen

things to note: sometimes this is permanent, forcing me to shut down my comp with the power button. Other times my computer will snap out of it.

90% of the time it happens when I'm on youtube, but today this happened when I had warcraft 3 opened and not youtube (this time it snapped out of it though, and its not the first time with warcraft 3 opened)

What are your C.P.U., G.P.U., R.A.M., drives, case, fans, and any other peripherals that are consuming power?

Dying graphics card most likely.

Due to lack of RAM I believe.

Yes could very possibly be one of these. I would also make sure that all drivers and windows updates e.t.c. are ALL UP TO DATE.

This is not an overheating issue. If it was the computer would just shut itself off once a component reaches it tj.max

When my 4870 was overheating during W.o.W., it would cause the screen to become black, but it would be playable after a while without doing anything, and S.W.T.O.R. would freeze with looping sound.
